Getting Started
If you are interested in learning how to become an umpire at our club, please send an email through to the club, and our Umpire Convenor will be in touch with more details.
New umpire checklist to get started:

Register your interest to become an umpire with our Umpire Convenor

Register as a Netball Victoria member through your local club
-
18+ must hold current Working with Children Card
-
Purchase or download a copy and read through the 2020 Official Rules of Netball booklet. LYVNA also have rule books available $25.00
-
Enrol and complete the Rules of Netball Exam (pass mark of 70% or more)
-
Attend LYVNA Introduction to Umpires Workshop (our umpire convenor will advise the date)
-
Purchase / source uniform items when ready to take the court. LYVNA have umpire whistles available $25.00
-
Enrol and complete the Foundation Umpire Education Course (required prior to being tested for your C badge)
-
Continue with practical umpiring to achieve required skills ready to be tested for C Badge

Introduction to Umpiring Workshop
The Introduction to Umpiring Workshop caters for anyone who is interested in becoming an umpire and for players and coaches who want to cover basic rules, positioning and areas of control. It is a great course to attend prior to undertaking practical umpiring.nnOur Umpire Convenor will let you know when LYVNA are hosting the next workshop.

Netball Victoria Programs
Netball Victoria currently manages umpire education programs which are aimed to service all levels of umpiring from beginners through to the national level.
Rules of Netball Exam
This exam tests the basic rules of the game and is a prerequisite for a C Badge and a Development Coaching accreditation. You have two hours to complete the exam and you must score at least 70% to pass. Pass marks are valid for 4 years. Click here to complete the online exam.

Foundation Umpire Education Course
This course has been designed to assist you in achieving the necessary skills and knowledge to be an effective umpire and enjoy your officiating role. The Foundation Umpire Education Course is a pre-requisite for obtaining a National C Badge. Current financial Netball Victoria membership is required for attendance at this course and to receive the accreditation. Click here to complete the online exam.

Uniform requirements for our club umpires are as follows:

Hair-tie (to help direct centre pass direction).
